Thanks no doubt to great eBook readers like the Nook and the Kindle, and quite likely also partly driven by the iPad, eBooks are reported as growing at an accelerating rate according to a report published by The Association of American Publishers. The numbers of interest to me are:

Year eBook Share
2007 0.58%
2008 1.17%
2009 3.20%
2010 8.32%

Over time Apple and Amazon eroded the Music industry from CD sales to Digital sales and now the trend is repeating itself for book publishing. Just as the majority of music released today is still released on CD and DVD, so to will books still be printed. Just less of them. And that’s not really a bad thing.
